Chapter 2
After reading Chapter 2 of the Cluetrain Manifesto I was left feeling empowered. Businesses, corporations and all that aside it made me think about all the injustice in the world and how people all over aren’t being heard because they don’t have access to a voice. So it makes me want to do it for them, to tell all who stumble across my blog that there are children in Africa who are having there hands cut off by machetes over diamonds, that hermaphrodite frogs are linked to the use of pesticides, that there are political prisoners in Mexico who are captured, tortured, even killed everyday, that 90 million Americans lack basic literacy skills, that children in Asia, Africa and Latin America are forced to work in sweatshops, that there are many women and children who are sold into the sex slave trade and so much more. There are organizations who dedicate their time to these causes such as Amnesty International and Pax Christi but the awareness isn’t being sought on the news. Fox just can’t show female genital mutilation of African women. So we must find out through these organizations that go these countries and see what is going on or be ignorant to it forever.
Okay, now that I got that out of the way I’d like to give a shout-out to Jon D for the creativity of his post titles. “‘Talk is Cheap’...? NICE, cause I only got $3.23 to my name and i was hoping to get 2 Bacon Double Cheeseburgers and a 5 Piece Nugget from Wendys” I’ve been there before! In his blog Jon talks about identity and how through the internet we can all create our own identity perhaps one that is the complete opposite of our streetselves. I, myself, tend to be shy and it’s not often that I will speak my voice but having my own blog gives me the chance to let many people know what my thoughts are.
Finally I have to agree with Joy who isn’t overly thrilled with the reading. Some chapters are long and confusing. All this talk about BUSINESS drives me crazy, it’s not my forte, and frankly I can’t take it anymore!
